Day 2.
Ulaanbaatar-Hustai Nuruu National Park
Arrive in
Ulaanbaatar and drive to the Hustai Nuruu National Park to see Przewalskii’s Wild horse and bird watching. Nesting Amur falcon, Hobby,
Saker falcon, Black Stork, Black Vulture, Daurian Redstart, Isabelline
Shrike, Daurian Jackdaw… Overnight in ger camp. (B, L, D).

Day 3. Hustai
NP-Borogchin Lake
Drive to the west
and reach to the Borogchin lake. We will see Saker Falcon, Steppe
Eagle, Upland Buzzards and big colony of House Martin and Barn Swallow.
Breeding Bar-headed Goose, Whooper Swan, Grey-lag Goose, Ducks and
Waders listed in MOSBWT07. Also we can see Asian Dowitcher pairs.
Avocets, Black-winged Stilt, Marsh Harriers… Overnight in tents (Camp B;
camp L; camp D).

Day 4-5. Ugii
lake
Drive west to the
Ugii lake. Western part of the lake just after arrive. Birdwatching
east, south east of the lake. Overnight in tents near the lake. Next
morning we will move less than 5 km to west of the lake. Fresh water
fresh fish dishes. Loon, Swan Goose, Bar headed Goose, Common and
White-naped Crane, Demoiselle Crane, Ducks and Waders listed in
MOSBWT07, Pallas’ Fish Eagle and White-tailed Eagle. Overnight in tent.

Day 6. Harhorin
and Erdenezuu Monastery
Drive to south west
and visit to Harhorin (Karkorum) and Erdenezuu monastery which is 13 th
century imperial capital of Mongol Empire. Erdenezuu monastery was built
in 1586. Steppe raptors, river valley birds. Overnight in tent. (Camp B;
camp L; camp D).

Drive to down to
the town. We will see mountain steppe birds such as Upland Buzzard,
Saker falcon, Steppe Eagle, Golden Eagle, Demoiselle Crane, Mongolian
Lark, Horned Lark, Short-toed Lark… Overnight in tent (Camp B; camp L;
camp D).

Day 8.
Arvaikheer-Bayankhongor
Drive to west to
the town. We will see mountain steppe birds (Upland Buzzard, Saker
falcon, Steppe Eagle, Golden Eagle, Demoiselle Crane, Mongolian Lark,
Horned Lark, Short-toed Lark)… Overnight in tent (Camp B; camp L; camp
D).

Day 9.
Bayankhongor-Baidrag gol-Buutsagaan
Drive to west to
the sum centre. Mountain steppe birds including Steppe Eagle, Saker
Falcon, Golden Eagle, Demoiselle Crane, Isabelline Wheatear, Horned
Lark, Mongolian Lark. In river shore we can see Common Sandpiper, Ruddy
Shelduck, Black Stork. Overnight in tent (Camp B; camp L; camp D).

Buutsagaan –Altai town- Sharga-Bugat (Uliastai gol)
Drive to south of
the Altai town. We will see mountain steppe birds including Steppe
Eagle, Saker Falcon, Golden Eagle, Demoiselle Crane, Isabelline
Wheatear, Horned Lark, Mongolian Lark. There will be desert steppe and
desert birds such as Egyptian Vulture, Bearded Vulture, Eurasian
Griffon, Black Vulture, Golden Eagle, Oriental Plover, Pallass’s
Sandgrouse, Deser Wheatear, Desert Warbler, Pallas’s Reed Bunting…
Overnight in the tent (Camp B; camp L; camp D).

Day 12. Bugat
(Uliastai gol)-Takhiin tal (Bijiin gol)
Drive to south of
the Bugat (Uliastai gol)- and reach to Takhiin tal research centre. We
will desert steppe and desert birds such as Bearded Vulture, Eurasian
Griffon, Black Vulture, Golden Eagle, Oriental Plover, Pallass’s
Sandgrouse, Deser Wheatear, Desert Warbler, Pallas’s Reed Bunting… Also
we will see re-introduced Przewalskii’s Wild horse in wild habitats and
Wild Ass. Overnight in tent (Camp B; camp L; camp D).

Day 13. Takhiin
tal (Bijiin gol)-Shiiriin Us (Oasis)
Drive to west of
the camp. We will see Ruddy Shelduck, Long legged Buzzard, Upland
Buzzrd, Saker Falcon, Common and Lesser Kestrel, Eurasian Griffon, Black
Vulture, Golden Eagle, few species of waders and Great Reed Warbler in
reed area. Desert Wheatear. Overnight in tent (Camp B; camp L; camp D).

Day 14.
Shiiriin Us (Oasis)- Khonin Us (Oasis)
Drive to south west
and visit to next oasis. We will see Grey Wolf, Wild Ass, Black tailed
Gazelle, Przewalskii’s Wild horse. Pallas’s Sandgrouse, birds in reed
habitat and Great Grey Shrike, Isabelline Shrike, Saxual Sparrow in arid
areas. Houbara Bustard is very rare. Overnight in tent. (Camp B; camp L;
camp D).

Day 15. Khonin
Us (Oasis)-Toodog us (Oasis)-Gun tamga (Oasis)
Drive next oasis.
We will see Wild Ass, Black tailed Gazelle, Przewalskii’s Wild horse.
Pallas’s Sandgrouse, birds in reed habitat, Great Grey Shrike,
Isabelline Shrike, Saxual Sparrow, Mongolian Ground Jay in arid areas.
Overnight in the tent. (Camp B; camp L; camp D).

Day 16. Gun
tamga (Oasis)-Gashuun Us (Oasis)-Tavan tolgoi
Drive next oasis.
We will see Black tailed Gazelle, Przewalskii’s Wild horse. Pallas’s
Sandgrouse, Great Grey Shrike, Isabelline Shrike, Saxual Sparrow,
Mongolian Ground Jay in arid areas. Highest point of the desert steppe
and beautiful view of oasis and deserts and Saxual forest in different
ages of development. Overnight in the tent (Camp B; camp L; camp D).

Day 17. Tavan
tolgoi –Eej Khairkhan -Bayantooroi
Drive to east of
the camp. We will see Black tailed Gazelle, Wild Ass, Wild Bacterian
Camel (in fence) and small rodents. Long-legged Buzzard, Upland Buzzard,
Saker Falcon, Common and Lesser Kestrel, Eurasian Griffon, Black
Vulture, Golden Eagle, Pallas’s Sandgrouse, Great Grey Shrike,
Isabelline Shrike, Mongolian Ground Jay in arid areas. Overnight in the
tent (Camp B; camp L; camp D).

Day 18.
Bayantooroi-Zahui-Zarman Gobi
Drive to east of
previous camp. We will see Black tailed Gazelle and small rodents.
Long-legged Buzzard, Upland Buzzard, Saker Falcon, Common and Lesser
Kestrel, Eurasian Griffon, Black Vulture, Pallas’s Sandgrouse, Great
Grey Shrike, Isabelline Shrike, Mongolian Ground Jay, Crested Lark,
Horned Lark, Desert Wheatear in arid areas. Houbara Bustard is very rare
and illusive. Overnight in the tent (Camp B; camp L; camp D).

Day 19. Zahui
Zarman Gobi –Khongoryn els
Drive to the sand
dunes which, is one of the biggest sand dunes in Mongolia. Visit to
local family and ride two humped camel. Bird watching around the creek
along the valley of the mountain range. We will have Pallas’s
Sandgrouse, Mongolian Ground Jay, Desert Warbler, Desert Wheatear,
Mongolian Finch… Overnight in the tent (Camp B; camp L; camp D).

Day 20.
Khongoryn els –Baruunsaikhan (Gegeetiin am)
We will visit to
South eastern end of Mongol Altai mountain. There we will see high
mountain birds: Egyptian Vulture, Bearded Vulture, Himalyan Griffon,
Eurasian Griffon, Black Vulture, Golden Eagle, Altai Snowcock (rare),
Kozlow’s or Mongolian Accentor, Desert Warbler, Guldenstadt Redstart,
Wall Creeper, Mongolian Finch, Beautiful Rosefinch, Great Rosefinch…
Overnight in ger camp. (B; L; D). Overnight in the tent (Camp B; camp
L; camp D).

Day 21.
Baruunsaikhan (Gegeetiin am)-Bayanzag (Dinosaur’s fossils discovered
sites)
We will have
Pallas’s Sandgrouse, Mongolian Ground Jay, Desert Warbler, Desert
Wheatear, Mongolian Finch…This site will be very good to watch birds in
Saxual forest. There will be breeding Great Grey Shrike, Isabelline
Shrike, rarely Saxual Sparrow. Mongolian Ground Jay also rarely occurs
here. Overnight in tents in Saxual forest. (Camp B; camp L; camp D).

Day 22. Bayanzag
–Yolyn am
Birdwatching near
ground spring. Midday many raptors arrive at the spring to drink water.
These will be Chukar, Mongolian Finch, White-winged Snow Finch, Black
Redstart, Beautiful Rosefinch, Rock Bunting, Wall Creeper (wonderful
opportunities to make photo and digiscoping) and soaring raptors such as
Egyptian Vulture, Bearded Vulture, Himalayan Griffon, Eurasian Griffon,,
Black Vulture, Golden Eagle, Saker Falcon … Also we can see Argli Sheep,
Ibex and Pikas. Overnight in tent. (Camp B; camp L; camp D).

Day 23. Yolyn
am- Dalanzadgad- Mandalgobi
Driv to Mandalgobi
and overnight in tent. (Camp B; camp L; camp D).
|

|
Day 24.
Mandalgobi -Sum Huh Burd-Baga Gazryn Chuluu
After breakfast we
will drive to north of Bayanzag and visit to Sum Huh Burd lake. This is
steppe lake with reeds. Herring Gull breeding colony, Ruddy Shelduck
breeding pairs, Mallard, Shoveler, Pintail, Common Teal, Whooper Swan
and Great Reed Warblers and passerines. Then we will reach to the Baga
Gazryn Chuluu which is rocky mountain range. Argali sheep (Wild Sheep),
Mongolian Marmot and Rock vole. Black Vulture nests, Saker falcon,
Steppe Eagle and Upland buzzard nests with chicks. Rock Thrush, Pied
Wheatear, Isabelline Wheatear, Brown and Isabelline Shrike. Visit to
local families and overnight in the tents near rocks. Overnight in
tent. (Camp B; camp L; camp D).

Day 25. Baga
Gazryn Chuluu- Zorgol hairhan lake
We will drive
passing steppe lake and reach to the protected area. On the way to
Ulaanbaatar, we will see typical steppe birds listed in the MOSBWT05.
Overnight in tent. (Camp B; camp L; camp D).

Day 26. Bogd
Khaan SPA-Terelj National Park
Drive to Terelj
National Park. Forest and forest steppe birds: Black Stork, Steppe
Eagle, Goshawk, Black Vulture, Black-billed or Spotted Capercaillie
(very rare), Oriental Cuckoo, Hoopoe, Great spotted Woodpecker, Black
Woodpecker, Great Tits, Willow Tit, Azure winged Magpie. Overnight in
tent. (Camp B; camp L; camp D).

Day 27.
Ulaanbaatar-city tour
Drive to back to
Ulaanbaatar. Visit to Gandan monastery. Shopping, city tour and ending
party of the trip. (D).

Departure.
