In March of 2004, the Mongolian Ornithological Society, Faculty of Biology, NUM, and Czech Radio, Union of Czech and Slovak zoological gardens signed agreement of the cooperative field research on tracking of Black Stork migration in Mongolia between 2004-2005. The objective of the agreement was to establish cooperative research on migration studies of Black Stork in Mongolia; to analyze the migration track data from satellite; and to find out other possibilities to co-operate on Mongolian bird species.

Mongolian and Czech Field Team Members During Black Stork Study. July, 2004.

In the beginning of July, four researchers, who are Miroslav Bobek, Lubomir Peske, Premysl Rabas, and Frantisek Pojer from Czech visited to Mongolia and joined with Gomboo and Odkhuu. One of the field trip aims was to catch two adults and fit solar and normal battery satellite telemetries on back of Black Storks in Central Mongolia. Before July field trip, Gomboo and his colleagues searched active nests of Black stork in Central Mongolia and found three nests contained eggs and chicks. 2 days later of Czech members arrival in Ulaanbaatar field trip members moved to first site of the Stork with 4 chicks nested on the cliff in Gatsaa, 40 kms west of Ulaanbaatar along Tuul river valley and trapped adult male stork named "Chingis" half day later of the visits to site and fitted the solar satellite telemetry.

Two days later members tried to catch another adult Stork in Shuvuun Davaa, eastern border of Khustai National Park which is the  protected area re-introduced Przewalskii's Wild Horse (Takhi in Mongolian). It took several days because chick was older age and the nest located on the unsuitable cliff to trap by special net prepared by very experienced researchers of Czech for catching adult storks in Europe. During catching the adult, Gomboo and Premysl Rabas searched stork nests in north of Ulaanbaatar where  is an area,

Gomboo observed several breeding pairs in June. With help of Davaasambuu (local man), they found the nest with 4 chicks nested on Larix tree.

While Gomboo and  Premysl Rabas drive to Ulaanbaatar, other members in the Shuvuu Davaa caught second adult stork and fitted satellite telemetry and named "Tuya" (Gomboo's wife name). Equipping storks were very successfully at this time in Mongolia. We need to wait for how satellite telemetry will work next days. Fortunately both telemetries worked very well and successfully tracked two adults of the Stork to India, wintering ground through China.
