Acad. O.Shagdarsuren, Prof. D.Sumiya and Dr. S.Gombobaatar (Gomboo) and other colleagues from the Mongolian Academy of Sciences Prof. A.Bold, Dr. Sh.Boldbaatar and Dr. N.Tseveenmaydag work together and supervise bachelor, master, and PhD thesis at the University. Since 1972, more than 20 students have written bachelor, master and PhD thesis covering ornithology at the National University of Mongolia. A total of 3 courses  and seminars, namely General Ornithology (for undergraduate students), Special course for Ornithology (for MSc students) and Bird Ecology and Behaviors (for MSc students) of Ornithology were given by lecturers of the Laboratory.

Feather collection

About 500 bird specimens were collected and catalogued at the Ornithological Laboratory last 4 decades. Members of the Laboratory have been collected more than 200 collections of passerine bird feathers since 1990. These materials are significant for student training for bird identification and description. The feather collection is also fundamental materials for bird species identification from prey remains and pellet analyze of birds of prey as Saker falcon, Upland buzzard and Eagle Owls in Mongolia.

Ch.Uuganbayar, a lecturer of the Mongolian State University of Agriculture, worked on "Diet Studies of Mongolian Saker falcon" since 1999 and finished his MSc thesis in 2002, B.Delgermaa, an officer of the Eastern Protected Area Administration, finished her MSc by the "Rare Bird Conservation in Eastern Protected area" in 2003. D.Usukhjargal, wildlife biologist of the Hustau nuruu National park, finished his MSc by the "Biology, ecology and conservation of Red Deer in Hustai nuruu". He still keen to continue his bird surveys in the protected area. B.Munkhzaya, a postgraduate student is working on "Breeding biology of Saker falcon".

Odkhuu and Amraa, who are postgraduate students, are working on "Raptor and prey relationship of steppe raptors" under supervision Gomboo and Sumiya.

Odkhuu presented his field work results for the Annual Scientific Conference of Faculty of Biology and took a second place of the competition in 2004.
