After Ute Bradter and Gomboo's first contact, they decided to write the cooperative research project on breeding biology, habitat use and disturbance factors to the White-naped crane in Ulz river basin, Mongolia. Between 1999-2001, White-naped crane research project was successfully organized by Mongolian-German-American scientists in Ulz river basin, North-East Mongolia. During field seasons, Tracy Grazia, a biologist of the Mississippi Sandhill Crane Wild Refuge, USA joined us in the Mongolian steppe. We have had very interesting and fruitful results for  White-naped crane conservation. The project was also educationally significant for undergraduate students of the National University of Mongolia.

Ch.Uuganbayar, D.Davaakhuu and Saranchimeg, who were undergraduate students from the University in 1999 and 2001, participated as assistant biologists for the project. They learnt field data collection, improved his English and got a excellent experience to work together with foreign scientists in the field. A total two scientific papers and a presentation paper of White-naped crane survey results published in scientific journals and proceedings of the Conference between 2002-2006.
